Getting Started - Reflective Learning: The Importance of Reflective Learning

Resource: Words of Encouragement,

Rod Bolitho (Academic Director NILE)

Regarding the Resource – Words of Encouragement, by Rod Bolitho, I agree with what he says on a newly qualified teacher while building his “identity as a teacher” and his main concerns on “how do I teach, how do I manage a class, how do I come across in the classroom”. I feel that having people observing and evaluating my classes not only at an early stage but also nowadays and paying attention to my learners’ behaviors during the lessons have helped me reflecting in and on while (re)planning my lessons. I think teaching must be a dynamic and a motivating process otherwise students get bored and they tend to lose their interest. Therefore, for me, the best way to keep learners’ interests alive is based on a constant development, search and try out, that comes from within each teacher, as Rod Bolitho refers, regarding new activities, new games, new challenges, new strategies that must be put into practice as often as possible.
